Technical Background

Alistair joined the Tecnologico Meze workshop in June 2017 after spending 6 years tuning touring cars. He manages the digital heartbeat of every Italian machine that rolls into our Southampton unit. Most days, you will find him hooked up to a Ferrari 458 or a Lamborghini Huracán using an Alientech KESS3. He doesn't use generic files from the internet; every map he writes is built from scratch on our local server to match the specific wear of your engine.

The Importance of Heat Cycles

He often tells clients that heat cycles matter more than just chasing a high dyno number. When he is recalibrating an engine, he monitors oil and coolant temperatures across 14 different points. This ensures the car remains reliable on the road, not just for one fast pull on the rollers. In October 2024, he spent 11 hours refining the cold-start maps for a Maserati that had been struggling with the Hampshire damp for three months.

Exhaust Integration

Since we use Titanium grade 2 only for our fabrication work, the airflow is much faster than stock steel pipes. Alistair performs a back pressure check on every custom system we install at 11 Oxford Road. He then adjusts the fuel tables to make sure the engine isn't running lean. This lathe-turned precision in the software prevents long-term valve damage and keeps the exhaust note crisp rather than raspy.

Data-Driven Results

While the car is on the dyno, Alistair looks at 17 specific variables including ignition timing and injector duty cycles. He recently resolved a stuttering issue on an 8-year-old Aventador by identifying a tiny voltage drop in the loom that three other shops had missed. He provides every owner with a 4-page data log showing the before and after metrics from the test runs, including the exact torque curve improvements.

Workshop Standards

Alistair is the first to tell you that we are not the cheapest shop in the South. Honestly, if you want a £150 'flash and dash' tune, we aren't the right fit. We take 3 days for a standard remap because he insists on a real-world road test after every change. If he sees a mechanical fault during the initial scan, he stops the process immediately. We don't believe in masking hardware leaks with a software boost.

Experience & Precision

His workstation is currently focused on the newer 2.9L V6 hybrids, where the electronic tolerances are tighter than ever. Alistair has handled 47 individual Ferrari calibrations since January, ensuring each one meets our internal benchmarks for throttle response. He prefers working in a quiet shop so he can hear the fuel pump cycles, so he usually starts his shift at 07:30 before the phones start ringing.
