Precision Metalworking
Our shop has its own lathe and milling machine. If a part is discontinued or doesn't fit your custom setup, we can probably make it. Wheel spacers, brackets, and custom bungs for sensors. We work with aluminum, steel, and titanium.
In-House Machining for Italian Performance
Most garages just order parts from a catalogue and hope for the best. If the part is out of stock or no longer made, they tell you your car is stuck on the ramp for weeks. At Tecnologico Meze, we handle things differently. Our Southampton workshop has its own manual lathe and milling machine right on the floor. We don't wait for deliveries for small brackets or spacers. We walk over to the machine and cut them from raw metal ourselves. Since we opened in 2016, we have fabricated over 156 custom parts for local Ferrari and Maserati owners.
Lathe-turned precision is the only way to ensure parts fit properly when you are driving at high speeds. We make our own wheel spacers to specific depths, like 8.5mm or 12.5mm, rather than forcing you to use standard sizes that might rub your arches. This is crucial for clearance on performance brakes. We mostly work with aluminum for weight savings, but we use high-tensile steel for high-stress brackets that need to survive multiple track days at Thruxton or Goodwood.
Titanium Grade 2 and Heat Management
Titanium Grade 2 is our material of choice for any exhaust component or sensor mount. It is incredibly light and handles heat cycles better than standard stainless steel. Every piece we mill is checked for fitment against the physical templates of the car. In March 2024, we saved a client £430 on a Maserati GranTurismo by machining a custom exhaust hanger that the factory no longer supplied. We understand that heat cycles matter, so we choose metals that won't warp or crack under the extreme temperatures of a V12 engine bay.
- Custom sensor bungs for wideband O2 sensors
- Specific 8.5mm and 11mm wheel spacers
- Repairs for discontinued Maserati exhaust hangers
- Titanium Grade 2 bungs for exhaust pressure testing
- Caliper brackets for custom brake setups
Repairing What Others Replace
Our metalworking isn't just about making new things from scratch. We also fix what is broken. If a bolt snaps off in a hub or a cylinder head, we use our milling machine to extract it without ruining the original threads. We have handled 47 of these extractions in the last year alone. It is a slow process, but it saves the customer from buying an entirely new hub assembly. Honestly, it is the kind of fiddly work that big dealerships refuse to do because they would rather just sell you a new £1,200 part.
Every part we make gets a back pressure check if it's going into the exhaust system. This ensures the engine still breathes correctly and doesn't trigger any dash lights. We are a small team of 3 people, so we focus on accuracy over high-volume speed. Most custom machining jobs are ready for fitting within 4-5 business days. If you have a part that is failing or a custom idea that won't fit, bring the car by Oxford Road. We'll take a look and give you a straight answer on whether we can mill it or not.
P.S. We don't do mass production. We only make parts for the cars currently in our bays or for specific local builds.
