Chip-Tuning & ECU Remapping
We don't use 'off the shelf' files. We read your car's data and build a map that fits UK fuel and weather. Better throttle response and smoother power delivery across the rev range. We focus on torque curves, not just peak numbers.
Direct tuning for local driving conditions
We do things differently at our workshop on Oxford Road. Most places download a generic file from the internet and upload it to your car in twenty minutes. We don't. We read the specific data from your ECU and build a map that works for 99 RON fuel and the damp Hampshire air. In 2023, we handled 42 different Italian performance cars, and every single one had a map written specifically for that engine's wear and history.
On the dyno: making torque useable
Peak horsepower looks good on a spec sheet, but it doesn't help you exit a corner on a B-road. We focus on the torque curve between 2,800 and 5,400 RPM. For a 2017 Huracán we worked on last November, we managed to smooth out a flat spot in the mid-range that the factory software ignored. This resulted in a 13% improvement in throttle pick-up without stressing the internal components. We always perform a back pressure check before we start because software cannot fix a hardware bottleneck.
Safety margins and heat cycles
We aren't interested in 'stage 3' claims that blow engines apart. Heat cycles matter to us. We keep all the factory safety limits for oil temperature and turbo pressure in place. If the engine gets too hot, the ECU will still pull back the timing to protect itself. Honestly, we turn away about three jobs a month because the owners want 'pop and bang' tunes that would eventually melt their valves. We prefer to build maps that last for the next 35,000 miles.
The mapping process at Tecnologico Meze
A typical tuning session takes about 3.5 hours. We start with a full diagnostic scan to check for hidden faults. If your spark plugs are old or a sensor is drifting, we fix that first. We then log data during real-world driving to see how the car behaves under load. Our team of 4 technicians uses lathe-turned precision tools for any physical modifications needed before the software is finalized. You get a printout of the before and after figures, but more importantly, you get a car that feels sharper.
- Individual maps built for UK humidity and fuel quality.
- Full engine health check included before any software changes.
- Turbo temperature safety limits are never disabled.
- Manual data logging to ensure the air-fuel ratio is safe.
By the way, we keep a backup of your original factory software on two separate drives. If you ever want to go back to the stock settings for a sale or inspection, we can flash it back for a small workshop fee of £55. Most of our 83 ongoing accounts appreciate having that safety net. We don't believe in locking you into a tune forever.
